Battery Cable Gauge

6 Gauge Wire

6 Gauge Wire

Battery Cable Gauge  1,4,6,8,1/0,2/0. Battery Cable Gauge 6 100% copper wire is the most popular cable ordered. The 6 gauge wire is used for many different applications including golf cart battery cables. 6 gauge wire is very easy to work with.

Your car’s electrical system depends on the power supplied through your battery cable. You must have the right size cable for top performance. The strong PVC jacket has excellent insulation, and the multi-strand bare copper strands allow for the best performance. Our battery cable is made in the USA of 100% copper. Full-gauge stranded copper core is flexible for easy installation and allows the most current for quick starting. Copper core extends to the end of the lug to give a solid connection.

How To Install An Alternator:

Inside Your Engine

Inside Your Engine

Step 1: Put the alternator in the engine compartment.
Step 2: Install the mounting bolts that connect the alternator to the alternator bracket.
Step 3: Connect the alternator wiring harness.
Step 4: Remove the retaining nub before you install the positive wire. Now, connect RED wire to the alternator.

NOTE: New alternators rebuilt  should come with a retaining nut. If it doesn’t keep the old nut. Remember; remove the nut before you install the positive wire.

Step 5: Connect the BLACK ground wire to the alternator. ( Not all cars have a ground wire)
Step 6: Install the belt drive.

Note: If your old belt shows signs of signs of cracking, oil soaked, hard glazed, splitting or fraying it’s a good time to replace your belt. If your vehicle no longer has the belt routing diagram under the hood, visit your local Part Source for a free print out of the belt routing diagram.

Step 7: Reconnect the ground battery cable gauge.

 Congratulations!

You have now completed the installation of your alternator.

How Do I Take Out My Alternator:

Remanufactured Alternator

Remanufactured Alternator

How to Remove Your Old Alternator:

Step 1: Disconnect the battery ground cable.

Step 2: Remove the BLACK ground wire from the alternator. ( Not all cars have a ground wire)

Step 3: From the back of the alternator, disconnect the positive wire from the alternator (it’s the RED wire held on by a retaining nut).

Step 4: Disconnect the wire harness from the alternator.

Step 5: Remove the drive belt.

Note: Some models use a belt tensioner, which applies tension to the drive belt. The best tool to use for this job is the serpentine belt tool. On other models, you will have to loosen the adjusting bolt on the alternator bracket.

Step 6: Remove the mounting bolts from the alternator bracket.

Step 7: Remove the alternator from the engine compartment.

*********** DONE!!   You have removed your old alternator!! **********

Sealed Motorcycle Batteries

Deka ETX15L

Motorcycle batteries are all over the market.  But if you want a battery that can survive in any application, being it on it side or upside down, then the sealed battery is the only way to go. Deka has a great motorcycle battery.  Here is a comment from a recent customer talking on a forum about the EXT15L Deka battery.

“I’ve seen lots of requests for battery advice lately and it’s been bothering me that so many are willing to pay so much for batteries that don’t fit right (you know – the orange ones).

Today a Deka ETX15L arrived at my door for $62.97 including shipping from FL to CT. I think the UPS man rolled the box down a mountain and into a river, but the battery seems to have survived. Right out of the box it measured 12.77 volts. I put it on my battery charger and the charger informed me that the battery was already fully charged. These AGM batteries discharge very little in storage.
These batteries have an opaque case as there is no free electrolyte to see:
A few KLRistas doubted that the ETX15L was sealed for this price. Well, there are no filler caps and no vent tube. The ventilation warning is there because there are safety vents in case of severe overcharging:
One very nice feature of this battery is the terminal design. In each terminal there are steel threaded inserts cast into the sides and top surfaces. No fumbling around with nuts that never seem to be where they should:
Best of all, the battery has the proper dimensions and drops right in the hole vacated by my original battery. You won’t need any spacers, extended cables, or any of that crap. Even the top cover slides into place as it should. The only thing missing is the vent tube:
Of course, the bike started right up. I expect it to do so for at least 5 years with this battery. My Concours has gone 3 years with one of these already.”

3.6V Lithium Batteries

Saft Ls14250 Lithium Battery

Saft Ls14250 Lithium Battery

The 3.6V Lithium batteries are becoming very popular with the onset of home alarms. The 1/2AA size battery is used in the alarms placed on widows. The greatest thing about lithium batteries is that they do last for at least 2 years when in use. The other great thing is that you can store these batteries for up tp 10 years and still have a fully charged battery ready to use. Saft is a leader in this market, producing the 3.6V Ls14250 lithium batteries they are made in France. The Xeno and Omni brands made in china are a good alternative the Saft brand, they are the same battery just a different manufacturer. The Xeno and Omni is usually a bit cheaper as well.

Scooter Batteries

Both electric vehicles and gas powered small vehicles, such as motorcycles and golf carts, require batteries. However, motorcycle batteries and electric scooter batteries serve different purposes. In a gas powered vehicle, the battery is used to actually start the motor, which then starts to burn fuel. After the motor is running, it recharges the battery so that it is ready for the next use. As long as everything is working properly, headlights and other electrical systems in a gas powered vehicle do not run off the battery. In an electric scooter or cart, the battery actually powers the entire vehicle and must be recharged when not in use. It needs to be able to consistently supply the require voltage to ensure proper operation.

No matter which style you need, BeiterBattery.com has the reliable Odyssey batteries you need to keep rolling along. We also carry the batteries you need for other speciality items, such as powered wheelchairs, computers and power tools.
